Mijenta Tequila and Women’s Earth Alliance Partner for Earth Month to Support Female Mexican Leaders

Mijenta Tequila and Women’s Earth Alliance Partner for Earth Month to Support Female Mexican Leaders

March 31, 2023 – In honor of Earth Month, Mijenta Tequila, the award-winning, sustainable and additive-free tequila from the highlands of Jalisco, today announced that it is partnering once again with Women’s Earth Alliance (WEA), which empowers women’s leadership to protect the environment, end the climate crisis, and ensure a just, thriving world.

Throughout the month of April, a portion of Mijenta's sales proceeds will go to support WEA's Regenerative Agriculture & Health Accelerator program in Mexico. During this period, Mijenta will donate $1.00 from each bottle depleted to WEA to help fund this initiative.

Building on 17 years of global experience, WEA’s Regenerative Agriculture & Health Accelerator will bring together women leaders working at the intersection of land, health, and gender. Uplifting women’s leadership, entrepreneurship, and environmental impact within the regenerative food and health sectors, the Regenerative Agriculture & Health Accelerator invests in women-led initiatives so their solutions can scale, replicate, and reach a global audience. During Phase 1 of the program, Mijenta's contributions will assist WEA in building a design team of climate, gender, and social justice experts as well as a coalition of organizational partners and design the Accelerator curriculum.

“We are extremely proud to once more support Women’s Earth Alliance in this incredibly important initiative,” said Ana María Romero, Mijenta’s Maestra Tequilera. “As a tequila producer, we believe supporting those who work the land, harvest agave and pass down the traditions of our community is critical. The Regenerative Agriculture & Health Accelerator program that encourages and develops the next generation of female leaders across the agricultural industry in Mexico is vital as we work to build thriving communities and implement sustainable practices.”

"Women in Mexico are at the forefront of food security and health access, and the Regenerative Agriculture & Health Accelerator is being designed to amplify their work,” said Daniela Perez, WEA’s North America/Pacific Program Director. “At Women’s Earth Alliance (WEA) we have seen how when women rise, whole communities benefit and thrive. Through our partnerships with corporate sponsors like Mijenta, WEA is able to provide leadership training, mentorship, and seed funding for women leaders to accelerate the viability of their enterprises and visions for improved food and health in their communities."

Mijenta, the first tequila producer to earn B Corp certification, is built on core values of environmental sustainability and supporting local communities. This Earth Month initiative extends Mijenta's work with WEA as the organizations collaborate to help build a more equitable and resilient future with the environment at the forefront.

“We launched Mijenta in 2020 with the goal of not only making great tequila, but having a positive impact on the environment and local communities. Collaborating with likeminded partners like Women’s Earth Alliance is a critical part of that mission, and I am thrilled to see WEA’s program in Mexico come to fruition,” said Elise Som, Mijenta Co-founder and Director of Sustainability. “We are honored to join WEA as they support female leaders working to create a healthier, stronger and more just world for all.”

WEA’s Regenerative Agriculture & Health Accelerator program follows a long track record of success elevating and empowering female leaders around the world. As key players in global food security and sovereignty, and as the primary caregivers to families and communities, women are the link between farm and table. Women will play a critical role in the future of agriculture, health, food security, and sustainability around the world. Women empowered with skills, resources, and networks of support will transform and regenerate food and healthcare systems by:

. Building sustainable food enterprises, food sovereignty initiatives, and farm-to-

. table opportunities; preserving food knowledge and traditions; and providing food access for entire communities

. Advocating for the rights, livelihoods, and sustainability of their communities; and

. Protecting local biodiversity and traditional plant medicines, and providing proper reproductive healthcare and assistance to patients.
